Measuring construction sites’ carbon impact

Enedis’ carbon calculator, an internal tool, allows the company’s project managers and environment managers to simulate and measure their construction sites’ carbon emissions.

The developed tool was nominated to the France Corporate Innovation Awards 2025.

context

Towards an intuitive tool

The conception's major challenge was to translate the original excel file, with multiple and complex links and calculations, into an intuitive app to use in the field.

Primarily focus was on clear readability of information, easy data input and an intuitive calculation process so that Enedis managers could swiftly simulate and compare their projects’ carbon results for decision-making.

solutions

Organization, flexibility

In order to bring optimal solutions to the specifics needs of the teams, the user journey and global architecture were entirely challenged and reinvented.

The various typologies of data entries were categorized for a more intuitive comprehension of actions, and these actions were fragmented into steps to guide the user and make the heavy process much lighter.

Users can activate certain calculations themselves according to their needs and their site items’ parameters.

An elementary UI design offers maximum flexibility in manipulating modules and customizing layouts for each profile and use case.

Thank you Michèle, the process is much clearer with this new structure. We can't wait to use the app for real.
